5 WHITEWATER DESSERTS THAT YOU HAVE TO TRY

Maybe you want to celebrate a special birthday or have a hankering for something rich and indulgent, or you had a rough day and want to end it on a good note. One of Whitewater’s famous desserts is the highlight of any day. So grab a date, a friend, or a good book and head out for some sweet relief at one of these local establishments just walking distance from the inn!

Fanatico:

One of my favorite things to do for a special occasion is to go out for drinks and desserts at Fanatico. Don’t get me wrong, their dinners are to die for, but I am always most excited for their desserts. This authentic Italian restaurant has its own dessert case where you can pick out a slice of tiramisu, caramel cheesecake, German chocolate cake, cannolis, brownies, and everything in between. When it comes to desserts, Fanatico knows how to do it right.

Sweet Spot Cafe

If you like espresso, then the Sweet Spot Cafe is the place to go. On hot days a cold brew with sweet cream is the perfect refreshing treat, while one of their lattes can warm any soul on a chilly winter day. If you want a healthy sweet treat, then pick up one of their signature smoothies. The Tropic Thunder made with mango, pineapple, banana, coconut milk, and a little honey will satisfy any sweet tooth without the sugar rush. You can also pick up one of their homemade pastries or order a custom wedding, birthday, or specialty cake at their store.

The Black Sheep:

The Black Sheep is a rustic-chic eatery focusing on making everything from scratch with only the freshest, in-season, and local ingredients possible. Each item on the menu is delicately balanced to bring out the unique flavors in each ingredient.  Their dessert menu is no exception but is always changing so you’ll never find the exact dessert twice. Some favorites in the past have been the rich, yet fluffy, chocolate mousse or the autumn-inspired pumpkin bread pudding. If you want a dessert that isn’t super sweet, then opt for one of their charcuterie boards hosting local cheeses, meats, and rotating accessories from nuts to fruits and crackers. You can also drink your dessert here with their craft cocktails. Like the rest of their menu, only the freshest ingredients go into their drinks and you can taste the difference.

Brain Freeze

Brain Freeze is the 50’s diner that makes you feel right at home the second you walk in. With a traditional menu of burgers, fries, and shakes you know you’ll be in for a treat. The most popular items on their menu are their Brain Freezers: a collection of ice cream-based desserts ranging from shakes and floats to banana sundaes and ice cream sandwiches. The best part about these desserts is that you don’t have to wait until after dinner to sink into sugary bliss, you can sip on your shake all through dinner and still have enough left over with their massive portions.

Rosa’s Pizza:

Rosa’s Pizza is a frequent stop for Whitewater locals. After a nice cheesy pizza, indulge in a scoop of ice cream from the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream company out of Madison, WI. While people used to drive miles to grab a scoop of the unbelievably creamy, flavor-packed ice creams from the Chocolate Shoppe, now you can simply walk over to Rosa’s and experience the same delectably smooth treat. Pick from classics like chocolate and vanilla or try one of the rotating flavors in the store like bourbon pecan pie, mint avalanche, or seasonal eggnog.    If you’re looking for a way to celebrate the weekend, an anniversary or a birthday, or just celebrate life, head over to Whitewater and stop at any of these amazing local eateries for a dessert that you won’t soon forget.    Want to visit Whitewater this fall?
